Her public role in the Jose Moralez case
The family continues to reject the suicide conclusion.
After Jose Moralez died in November 2004, Fresno County authorities classified the death as suicide. Yolanda became the leading public voice for the family’s allegation that Jose was killed by Jerry Dyer in Dyer’s front yard and that Fresno County Sheriff’s personnel moved Jose’s body across the street and staged the scene to appear to be a suicide.
Until her death in 2023, Yolanda repeatedly challenged the official narrative in litigation, interviews and public advocacy. The Moralez family continues that position today.
The 2025 FCSO production adds forensic and investigative records that must be compared with the family’s longstanding position. The family disputes attribution and interpretation of portions of that record, including the GSR material, and none of those released items independently identifies the shooter or resolves the family’s homicide and cover-up claims.
